i love reading the personal development posts, this one in particular.

I keep thinking I haven't failed enough to really get a good feel for what it is I want to succeed at. But I feel like I'm in a good position - I'm motivated to keep up the freelancing to other publications so far I'm at 0 for 3 - 3 letters sent with no responses. But I'm still writing other pitches and I know after 10, one has bound to be successful.

This is a long comment but when I was asked to resign from my first journalism job after a few months because I wasn't a good writer, I viewed that for a year clearly that I failed and could never succeed again. I've spent the last year changing the way I think and focusing on things I can do to learn and improve my writing while investing in other areas of interest. Thanks for the inspiration! It's always a good reminder even though I should know better.

Great read! As corny as it sounds, the quote from the movie Batman Begins says it well..."Why do we fail? So we can learn to pick ourselves back up."

As you said, failure is inevitable, it's how you respond to it.

What are some of the other ventures that didn't work out?

Your post is very motivational. I think everyone has failed at some point in their life. It's great to see someone that fell, brushed themselves off, and continues on their way. Good luck!
