For some reason, I’ve navigated toward Christian music during my daily commute. To be honest, I’m not a hardcore Christian or anything; I don’t go to Church on Sundays and I haven’t memorized every passage from the bible. Nonetheless, I’ve found Christian music to be a nice change.

I’m sure many of you have noticed that much of the mainstream music you hear on the popular R&B, Hip Hop, Rock, and/or Pop stations discuss the same things in their lyrics. They’re mostly about partying, finding a hot chick/dude, ending a relationship, finding love… etc. Take a look at Billboard’s Top 100 yourself, and see what I mean.

When I listen to Christian music, I find a refreshing sense of purpose in the song. And no, its not like those old gospel songs. These songs are modern, hip, and actually quite fun to listen to. Think Sister Act (I love that movie =X).

The music is a pretty good pick-me-up in the morning. It gets me all “pumped” for work, in a more spiritual way, haha. For the most part, Christian music is very uplifting. It talks about encountering struggle and having the faith to overcome those challenges. I think this is something we all need in our lives.

Oh, and Country Music is good too. But I won’t write about that, I’m too ashamed haha, jk!

Now if I only knew the title of those songs… =)

Lol. An unusual and eclectic music taste is always good. I play basketball and listen to hip-hop yet on the other hand I also like country music and zydeco music :D

While my DF and I were painting our condo a few months ago, accidentally the radio his sister lent us was pre-set to a Christian rock station. It was actually good to the ears and different. I like the positive vibes it gave me too. I agree that after awhile, all that hip hop and mainstream music start to sound the same. And i hate hearing about how these stars singing about how much bling they have (i.e. Glamorous) while I TOTALLY can’t relate.

I’m not a big fan of Christian music unless you count mainstream Christian bands such as Switchfoot, Lifehouse or even The Fray. Lifehouse was the first alt rock band I got into once I got over my teenybopper Nsync/BSB phase!

I wonder if the actress who acted in Sister Act is a Christian herself.
But i too, find the movie very inspiring and i loved the song too!
Overall, i still prefers Christian Rock music :)

    Hi there,
You don’t have to memorize every passage from the bible to be a christian :) To be honest, i really tried but somehow memory isn’t that great.
I’d share your thoughts that listening to Christian music (especially this sister act song) does also gives me a refreshing sense of purpose. I cannot explain why but somehow, i guess its a song about GOD that made me rethink my priorities.

I love country music. Old country music to be exact. I hate the watered down stuff that is popular right now. I rather listed to the old stuff…I am kinds dissapointed with how country music has been evolving over the years but whatsa gonna do?

I listen to country and christian. It is something that I can relate to, where the Bling is not something i can relate to. I have no interest in gang life, hoping cars and a bunch of foul language. There is enough bad going on right now, and I sure dont want my mind consumed with it. We all hum or sing songs at times, and you do this to music you listen to regulary.

I would rather uplifting words that negative and even “Racist” lyrics.

I listen only Christian music, may be because I’m a Christian.))
However, I prefer rock like Switchfoot, Anberlin, Skillet and Relient K.
    Bless You
