Welcome to Pro Money Blog, formerly Young Money Blog! My name is Dennis and I am a graduate of the University of Florida with degrees in Political Science and Marketing (Go Gators!!). This blog was created as a journal for my interest in personal finance, success, and entrepreneurship. It will also record the accomplishments and failures I encounter as I venture into the real world. May the journey begin!
Here’s some background information about me. I was born and raised in Florida to Asian American immigrants. My family is very blue collar and I consider our household to be lower-middle class. Thanks to Florida’s Bright Future scholarship, I was able to attend the University of Florida with 100% of my tuition covered. The school’s value was excellent and I didn’t want the financial burden of an out-of-state school to strain my family. In the fall of 2002, I officially became a Florida Gator.
During college, I was heavily involved in student organizations. I consider my involvement a defining characteristic of my life. It has shaped my interpersonal skills and helped develop my leadership. I was able to interact with many people different backgrounds thanks to my involvement. All of which have shaped my perspective on life.
My entrepreneurial ventures began late in my college career. In retrospect, I wish I started my businesses much earlier. The most notable venture is One Greek Store which I started with two fraternity brothers in June of 2006. The business has been very successful and continues to prosper today.
After graduation in May 2007, I was offered an amazing middle-management position with a retail company. Although I had originally intended to work on my own companies, I was offered the opportunity to observe the mechanics of a successful business from the ground up. Flash forward two years later to April 2009, and I have since parted ways with the company in search of something more fitting to my personal and professional goals.
Today, I may be best characterized as a life explorer. I have a particular interest in the internet and its future growth. Wherever life takes me, I am guided by my faith and the belief that everything will happen as it should.
